Svalbard

SVALBARD was started as an ambient one-man project in 2006. It’s music was based on the mixture of Dark Ambient and Neoclassic.

During the winter of 2007 the first demo titled ‘Stille’ was recorded and soon SVALBARD received the invitation to take part in the international fest „Crivia Aeterna“. After the band’s first performance it’s conception was reworked and the following year SVALBARD performed their new program together with the new member [K.S.] who since then has become responsible for the lyrics of the project. After this performance the band received their first contract with „Der Angriff“ (subdivision of Russian label „Indiestate“) and released their first EP ‘Treue Vaterland Jugend’.

Preserve

It`s so good to let loose, to stumble and fall, see yourself on the ground, breathe dust, taste your own blood and to know: You`re not crashed by the hardness soil, but by the altitude of the flight. You live in transit. You know that you only can trust those who are searching for the truth, not those who have found truth. To find out eventually is not your destination.
On the top step of the ladder and to stand still hoping that this last top rung will carry you, until it`s time to leave. Hope`s for fools. There`s an end to each way, success is only temporary. Each summit is only a spot in the end. There`s an everlasting Grindstone and this is yours.
If you get up now you`re already aware of the fact that will to fly again and fall again, because for you there`s no other way. Whatever will be, it`s not what you want in the end. If you`re not afraid anymore of finally crashing down and failing, when you`re looking forward to it, you`re exactly where we`ve been expecting you. You will fail again, but more sophisticated. We`re the transit, we are Preverse.

Inertia

“Repeat & Follow” is the brand new single from the UK’s Inertia. The single contains seven remixes and a bonus track "Fallout".
"Repeat & Follow" has quickly become a firm favourite amongst the fans and DJ's at Inertia's recent live shows and is a strong taster of things to come on the band's 11th album “Deworlded”.

This single shows the band becoming a serious force to be reckoned with, with pulsating basslines, stomping rhythms, forceful leadlines and stabbing guitars, this release is a pure treat for the dancefloor.
The physical CD version of this release will be limited to 100 copies only and be individually hand numbered. Inertia is Reza Udhin (Killing Joke), Alexys B (Electro Falco), Andrew Lowlife (Swarf), Kneill Brown (Killer B Movie/ Ex Killing Joke).

Requesting problems solved PDF Print E-mail

Dear users, our beloved mortals...

the request feature of the radio panel is solved. It took a while, but we have found a workaround for it.
Further more, the registration procedure had some troubles for those who entered their mobile number faulty. The message is now vissible, but we cannot capture currently a correction for it. Please note, that you enter your mobile number correctly.

For Example; when your mobile number is 0474/999xxx and you live in Germany, then you enter: 49474999xxx (note the leading zero is not entered!!! And do not enter 0049 but just 49 for country code).

Other news from the radio front...

We are working on our music database to bring it out for the public, activating the community features and a more easier registration procedure. Making your own playlists is almost ready, just a lot of testing and some syncing problems to solve. While we are busy, you can already join our facebook fanpage, or perhaps become a friend at myspace...

Cya soon...
Dark greetings,

The Transisters – How To Irritate People PDF Print E-mail

The Transistors - How to irritate people

After the first album, “Under Control” (2008), which was released on afmusic, artistically produced, recorded and mixed by Geoff Turner – a prominent musician and sound engineer in Washington, DC – here comes the highly anticipated second Longplayer by The Transisters – “How To Irritate People” – a cd with 9 tracks representing the sound of young band from Treviso/Venice: intriguing pieces, smart structures and a thoroughly studied post-punk sound, play with a strength and power that comes straight from the era of garage-punk-rock.

The Italian indie achievers already rocked half of Europe and were on the move with the RAVEONETTES and the KAISER CHIEFS. Who was missin power, Punk and poetry while surfing on the new wave Of New Wave, to those THE TRANSISTERS will come like an electric shock! On canned music their cool sound is like a conspiracy from THE FALL, GANG OF FOUR and early NEW ORDER. On stage THE TRANSISTERS make their songs alive: on the boards, edged punk-axes wrapped in sawing guitar chords. The result is between bony cartilage and powerful bass drum parts a physical Post-Punk monster.

The ungoogleable (((S))) with new album Phantom PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras

S - Phantom

‘Phantom’, the eagerly awaited second CD by (((S))), appears like a liberation of an entire scene that seems frozen in 30 years, spreading spasmodically attached depression and often enough, it just seems unauthentic.

Already alike with his debut album “Ghost” inspired the Dane (((S))) listeners and critics, and was knighted by MICK MERCER as “Album of the Year 2009 “. But instead of resting on its laurels, the man behind the project that is “ungoogleable” and thus escapes any grid, creates a second album, coming out on 16/04/2010 at afmusic / Danse Macabre.

“Phantom” delivers all of the debut’s high expactations, and doesn’t need to fear the competition of big names. This is Wavepop in its best form. (((S))) don’t deny their roots in Wave with their undulating bass, steady drums, shimmering guitars and elegiac synths.

But (((S))) are refreshingly relaxed, surprisingly easy, fascinating, danceable, and so reminiscent of releases round millenium by NEW ORDER or the winking late work by Adam Ant. The playful arrangements, the skilful knack for melodies and hooks, not least the whispering vocals … everything is nice and relaxed looseness stereotypes in combination with a healthy dose of musical irony, makes tapping the toes or just rock the lips to sing along many a time.

‘Phantom’ is a first-class Wave album, simultaneously pure pop and after all, it’s just fun.

Afx

Around 1980/81 Oxford based band Exit 13 changed their sound & changed their name to Aerial FX. They signed a publishing deal with Island Music, released 2 singles ("So Hard" on Square Records & then "Take It From Here" on Island Records), & then bagged enough studio time to record "Watching The Dance" LP which was released on Kamera Records along with a single "Instant Feelings".

They played shows around London & the UK throughout that period. Around 1982/83 the focus changed to studio recording & Melton & Bladon left the band. The other 3 continued writing & recording & EMI Records signed them mid 1983. Unfortunately there were creative disagreements with EMI & they didn't progress out of the studio, finally being dropped at the end of 1984.
Their studio experiments continued for another couple of years but nothing was released & they stopped making music as AFX around 1986.

Nowadays Chris Hufford is well-known in music industry as the manager of Radiohead, Supergrass and Gamma Hayes, he also produced some of Radiohead's early recordings, a group he would help steer to massive global success. Chris also run his new project Anti Atlas (Downtempo, IDM, ambient).

The project ‘Das Präparat‘ has been given birth by Dr Hyde in 2001. The album «THX LD50» proved their will of independent development departing from their beginning with Welle:Erdball.
Das Praeparat
The new album ‘Unschuldsblicke‘ - due to be released on July 2nd - impressively demonstrates the maturation of the project by finding its own distinct style. They stick to the combination of electro and classic piano themes but added further elements of cabaret and jazz to a new Präparat-like style. With ‘Unschuldsblicke‘ ‘Das Präparat‘ delivers a very multi-faceted record.

Containing lyrics about pedophilia and fears the album is dedicated to the sorrows of childhood. Furthermore it is intended to critize the social misbalance of our time. Men ought to be provoked to rethink. The protagonist skillfully manage to be shortlasting and open-minded.

Front Line Assembly

Always expanding and reconstructing electronic and industrial music to its breaking point while keeping rhythm and melody intact, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY are preparing to unleash the latest chapter in their storied history with the release of IMPROVISED. ELECTRONIC. DEVICE. on June 25, 2010 on Dependent.

“I.E.D. is definitely furthering the direction of the band and sound, creatively and artistically,” explains founder and mastermind behind FLA, Bill Leeb. “We’re finding new ways to make sound.”

A hearty and robust album thick with a hybrid of electronics and guitars, I.E.D. takes their trademark sound and beefs it up with metallic guitars and stylized industrial beats. Kicking off with the adrenalineinfused title track, it’s apparent that this is a new and improved FLA. “This is the first time in FRONT LINE history that we did a track in a 5/4 signature,”explains Bill. “Chris (Peterson, keyboards) was pushing for more diversity, chal lenging the band to do something different. We wanted this track to be as challenging and complex as the world we live in as there are no easy answers.”

Horror-Forsaken

Black Drone label is proud to present a brand new release by VoidWork. A beautiful mix of dark ambient, neoclassical and neofolk. Features Ann-Mari Thim from Arcana on vocals.

"Horror/Forsaken is a double album based loosely on the concepts of fear, abandonment and mankind's meaningless place in an impersonal Universe. "Horror", the first half of the release, is relatively song oriented and was inspired musically by nineties dark wave, as well as traditional melodies of both Eastern and Western culture. "Forsaken" mainly carries traditional dark ambient influences and focuses on atmosphere rather than on conventional song structure or sound. Both dark halves come together to make a black whole that is organic in its origin and purpose. From waking to sleep, birth to death." (Xavier, VoidWork)

Noblesse Oblige - Malady PDF Print E-mail

Noblesse Oblige

Ex-London, now Berlin based duo Noblesse Oblige was formed in early 2004 by German songwriter/producer Sebastian Lee Philipp and French performer-cum-songwriter/chanteuse Valerie Renay after meeting at a masked ball in Hoxton during which Valerie was performing a live art show.

Their debut album Privilege Entails Responsibility (the English translation of the band name) was released in the U.K. in 2006. Its eclectic mix of disco punk, sixties French chanson and raw acoustic folklore combined with lyrical wit and dark humor proved an appealing combination among the London crowds. Its first single releases Bitch and Daddy (Don’t touch me there) quickly became indie club regulars throughout Europe.

Having re-located to Berlin in autumn 2006, Noblesse Oblige started working on its follow-up album In Exile, released in autumn 2008 on RepoRecords. Written and recorded in the band’s own Neukölln music studio, the album is a journey through its writers’ diverse musical tastes and styles, taking influences from gothic horror movies, African tribal tunes and contemporary pop music. The songs are accompanied by tri-lingual lyrics that range from child-like nursery rhymes, over the bands ever present obsession with sex and death, to more sensual and dreamlike tales of unfound love and loneliness. Having toured and performed with artists including Dresden Dolls, Vive La Fete and Patti Smith among others, Noblesse Oblige gained a notorious reputation for their wild and spectacular live shows. Taking turns in playing guitar, samplers, piano, keyboards and drums or melodica, Sebastian and Valerie blend edgy electronics with a raw live sound that captures the sleazy, ambiguous tension within the duos sensual performance.

killmatriarch

KillMatriarch is a creative collective of producers and songwriters formed in early 2010 by Landon Newsom (Matriarch), Drew K. and OnTronik. This trio has set out to make what they call "movies for the ears" . The concept of the band includes the freedom to express ones darker and powerful sides. A vision that also includes seeing different aspects of ones being constantly at war within, but where the physical body ceases to die; immortality. With the trio constructing their onslaught of vaguely familiar yet freshly adrenalized musical pallet, KillMatriarch is on its way to joining the list of bands who have written from a true source of inspiration without giving up integrity.

Now we hope to get their stuff soon for our radio...

klangstabil - VERTRAUT PDF Print E-mail

klangstabil

This collection includes the original version of klangstabil's most well-known track, which captured the attention of listeners world-wide right from its first release on a compilation in 2002.
Besides that You will find eight interpretations of 'Vertraut' demonstrating the versatility of work that can be extracted out of the catchy, familiar motif.

Some of the artists who have remixed the track have based their interpretation on intelligent dance music: the breakbeat-framed Somatic Responses version, a hybrid of breakcore and idm by u.s. project Access to Arasaka, Keef Baker's metric electro background, which turns into post-rock with dense guitars, and Architect's Daniel Myer gives us dancefloor-capable pounding beats topped with a plausible new melody line to complement the original theme. Torben Wendt (Diorama) turns 'Vertraut' into beautiful melodic body music, while Synapscape keep the original track structure but replace the instrumentation and beats, turning the theme into a heavy electronic floorburner.
KSDJ is Maurizio Blanco himself, adding some newly faceted rhythm patterns and melody lines, making his version a contemporary DJ anthem. L'Ombre from Canada ends up the remix section with lush ambient electronica at its finest. the melancholic ambiance of 'Zweiter Schritt' and 'Ein Schritt weiter' not only close this release, but also mark the end of one of the most important chapters of klangstabil's existence.

Caisaron - LIEBE IN MIR VERNICHTET (Single) PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras
Thursday, 10 June 2010 22:45

Caisaron

Besides their sophisticated mixture of synth pop and electro styles CAISARON prove one thing in the first line: they are not afraid of handling deep feelings.
Rhythm and emotion complement each other perfectly in the play of arrangement and melody. Filigree electronic sounds, that crawl into your brain slowly and enduring,  will not let you go again, while your muscles are twitching to the beat.
Distinctive male and elegiac female vocals, interacting with each other, also finalize and unite the music of CAISARON in catchy hooklines.
CAISARON are an all authentic band, honest, veritable and sustainable. No hasty evocation of artificial worlds, all is impassioned human, that fills the superficially cold electronic sound by a deepness full of suspense, thus creating a flush the listener can devote himself with pleasure.
The openness of feelings has found its peak in the song „Liebe in mir vernichtet“ (which translates to 'Love destroyed in me'), a balladesque song on the recent release by CAISARON (the 2009 album 'Tief in mir'). Now CAISARON have refurbished this ballad by a new rhythmic base, that even creates more tension and makes the song compatible to the dance floors.
With the support of some great remixers like Ray Gordon, DJ Crocks and People Theatre, CAISARON show us again how to get new facets out of a perfect song, without coyping themselves or getting lost in repetition.
'Liebe in mir vernichtet' is being released on June 04 2010 as a digital-only web-single by the German SONIC-X label (TS-Musix).

Orange Sector - KRIEG und FRIEDEN PDF Print E-mail

Orange Sector

In 1992 Martin Bodewell and Lars Felker met in a Club called “Index” and discovered that they had the same interests in music. Martin and Lars each had their own musical endeavors at the time, but after only one meeting, Orange Sector was born. The legendary band DAF was a big influence on the dominant sound of Orange Sector. The name was a result of the band simply playing with various words. The Orange Sector was the name of the environment on stage. This is the place where everyone would meet, forget their problems, and have fun. The band rented a studio to produce their demo-tape “The War Comes Home.” In the early years this name and lyrics represented the problems with society. The album art showed an American farmer who buried Agent Orange barrels in the ground. Lars and Martin only sent the demo to one record label, the legendary 90’s EBM juggernaut Zoth Ommog. Label mastermind Talla 2XLC gave it to the producer Andre Schmechta (of “X Marks The Pedwalk”) and said “I like, make it!” The dream came true. It did not take long for “Orange Sector” to get signed to their favorite label.

A Kiss Could Be Deadly - FAREWELL PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras
Saturday, 05 June 2010 10:38

A Kiss Could Be Deadly

After years of playing in various punk rock bands growing up, Chris Qualls eventually grew tired of the SoCal indie scene. Disenchanted, he turned his focus to becoming a songwriter and producer and began working with synthesizers and drum machines.

Around the same time he met a beautiful singer named Lauren Baird while attending classes at UC Riverside, California. The two had an instant chemistry and Lauren agreed to join Chris in his mission to make edgy dance pop for a new generation. The duo recorded four of Chris's songs and began passing them out under the name, A Kiss Could Be Deadly. The response to their fusion of punk, new wave and electro was so positive that the two decided to turn it into a full band and start performing live. Calling on friends and ex-bandmates Kelly Cairns, Danny Deleon and John Bennett, Chris assembled what was to become the official line-up of the band.

As a five piece, A Kiss Could Be Deadly started playing all over the west coast. Their originality, big hooks and interaction with fans soon got people talking. With a buzz circulating around A Kiss Could Be Deadly, 2007 proved to be an eventful year. In addition to signing to Metropolis Records and beginning the recording of their debut album, the dance/punk quintet performed with the likes of Berlin, the English Beat, the Aquabats, I Am Ghost, the Plimsouls, When In Rome, and many others. The band exploded. Radio (Indie 103.1 + X 103.9), press (Alternative Press Unsigned Band Contest Winner, Urb Magazine, Racket Magazine), online (myspace top unsigned electro charts and features on girlpunk.com, indie911.com and arjanwrites.com), and even exclusive underground mixtapes (Electro Riot) couldn't get enough of the band.

2008 saw the band’s hard work pay off when they signed with Metropolis Records and released their self-titled debut along with a digital only single for Broken Music.

Their 2008 self-titled debut was an underground success with its fusion of punk, new wave, and electro. Since its release, all has been quiet in the AKCBD camp. Now finally two years later the band as re-emerged with the Farewell EP. Featuring two brand new songs, a cover of the Berlin hit “Metro,” and three remixes of songs off the debut, Farewell serves as what could be the band’s final curtain call.

Septron brings Wuterguss a Dark Wave Electro Industrial album PDF Print E-mail

Saturday, 05 June 2010 09:53

SeptronA combination of Dark Wave, EBM, Dark Electro and Industrial styles, sophisticated lyrics in German language, all done in a characteristic manner – this is SEPTRON, a one-man-band from Germany.
The listener is hypnotically driven through the ups and downs of emotions. SEPTRON is an artist who puts his inmost thoughts and pains into his music. His inspiration comes from his dissatisfaction with the society. SEPTRON shares his pain and his hate with the listener and makes him think about the words.

Songs like KOMA and BLENDER have a political message, SEPTRON describes his objection and disapointments in our system.

Other tracks, like UNTER DEINER OBHUT or BLUMENWELT bring a deep view into the soul of SEPTRON, letting us know how painful even love can be.

Come on and go along with SEPTRON on his rampage against the rules in a dying world.

The musician behind SEPTRON is Bastian Polak, living in central Palatinate, a south-west German region.

For more than 8 years SEPTRON has been developing his music in his home-recording studio, producing 4 self-released demo CDRs that have made him popular in the local scene. Also SEPTRON played several successful live-shows on club stages up to some smaller festivals.

In june 2010 his debut-album titled WUTERGUSS (an artificial variation of a German expression, the resulting meaning can be translated as a 'sharing of rage') is released by the Sonic-X label, which also did the final production on SEPTRON’s recordings in their TS-Musix Studio.

Desire Black - Last Call for Decadence PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras
Saturday, 29 May 2010 12:10

Freedom of expression is the backbone of all music. That being said, as I sit here listening to "Last Call for Decadence" on my CD player, I can't believe what is coming out of the speakers. This one man band plays music that is part punk, part rock and part some shit I can't quite figure out. Sometimes the music is a little too harsh and and indefinable. Sometimes, it kicks solid ass. It's like Marilyn Manson met Nine Inch Nails in some alternate universe.

Desire Black is Jimmy Matheos and he plays all the instruments and does a remarkable job. Final diagnosis: Too weird for most, but just weird enough for others.

For more information, check out http://www.desireblack.com.

Elapsing less than 28 total minutes, Matheos philosophy and approach to songwriting is obviously to jump into a track feet first, make the statement he wants to make, and then to get the hell out before the song has any chance of getting repetitive or boring (anyone like The Ramones?). Stylistically, Last Call For Decadence has a fairly unique personality … its roots are clearly hard core Punk based, a la The Sex Pistols, but the guitar sound, especially, has periodic Metal tendencies, at times in the vein of Motley Crue’s Too Fast For Love, at other times similar to The Scorpions’ Lovedrive and Animal Magnetism. The 4th track, “Puke Til You Vomit,” for instance, has a fresh-sounding guitar riff intro very similar to “Falling In Love” by The Scorpions.

Testube - Off Purpose PDF Print E-mail

Glim Records is pleased to announce the return of Testube in 2010. With an anticipated release date of May 17th, Jeff Danos presents 'Off Purpose' - his first full length release since 'Corporation' in 2003. Continuing where the 2008 "Covert" EP left off, this new release further explores the eclectic fringes of electronic genre mutation that Testube is known for. By fusing glitchy chaotic percussion, dramatic textural displays, anti-pop melody and the occasional old school industrial groove, 'Off Purpose' promises to deliver a little bit of something for everyone, and a lot for the discerning few. Jonathan Chalker, of the dark electro-pop act LowHero.DLL, also contributes vocals and lyrics to what is arguably the catchiest track on the album - "Lost and Found".

'Off Purpose' will first be sold as a limited boutique CDr with special hand-printed arigato jacket and trigger ejector case. Download sales will follow shortly thereafter. In closing, here's a sneak peak at the unintentional, yet somehow refined sounds of Testube's 'Off Purpose':
