Orange Sector - KRIEG und FRIEDEN PDF Print E-mail

Orange Sector

In 1992 Martin Bodewell and Lars Felker met in a Club called “Index” and discovered that they had the same interests in music. Martin and Lars each had their own musical endeavors at the time, but after only one meeting, Orange Sector was born. The legendary band DAF was a big influence on the dominant sound of Orange Sector. The name was a result of the band simply playing with various words. The Orange Sector was the name of the environment on stage. This is the place where everyone would meet, forget their problems, and have fun. The band rented a studio to produce their demo-tape “The War Comes Home.” In the early years this name and lyrics represented the problems with society. The album art showed an American farmer who buried Agent Orange barrels in the ground. Lars and Martin only sent the demo to one record label, the legendary 90’s EBM juggernaut Zoth Ommog. Label mastermind Talla 2XLC gave it to the producer Andre Schmechta (of “X Marks The Pedwalk”) and said “I like, make it!” The dream came true. It did not take long for “Orange Sector” to get signed to their favorite label.

A Kiss Could Be Deadly - FAREWELL PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras
Saturday, 05 June 2010 10:38

A Kiss Could Be Deadly

After years of playing in various punk rock bands growing up, Chris Qualls eventually grew tired of the SoCal indie scene. Disenchanted, he turned his focus to becoming a songwriter and producer and began working with synthesizers and drum machines.

Around the same time he met a beautiful singer named Lauren Baird while attending classes at UC Riverside, California. The two had an instant chemistry and Lauren agreed to join Chris in his mission to make edgy dance pop for a new generation. The duo recorded four of Chris's songs and began passing them out under the name, A Kiss Could Be Deadly. The response to their fusion of punk, new wave and electro was so positive that the two decided to turn it into a full band and start performing live. Calling on friends and ex-bandmates Kelly Cairns, Danny Deleon and John Bennett, Chris assembled what was to become the official line-up of the band.

As a five piece, A Kiss Could Be Deadly started playing all over the west coast. Their originality, big hooks and interaction with fans soon got people talking. With a buzz circulating around A Kiss Could Be Deadly, 2007 proved to be an eventful year. In addition to signing to Metropolis Records and beginning the recording of their debut album, the dance/punk quintet performed with the likes of Berlin, the English Beat, the Aquabats, I Am Ghost, the Plimsouls, When In Rome, and many others. The band exploded. Radio (Indie 103.1 + X 103.9), press (Alternative Press Unsigned Band Contest Winner, Urb Magazine, Racket Magazine), online (myspace top unsigned electro charts and features on girlpunk.com, indie911.com and arjanwrites.com), and even exclusive underground mixtapes (Electro Riot) couldn't get enough of the band.

2008 saw the band’s hard work pay off when they signed with Metropolis Records and released their self-titled debut along with a digital only single for Broken Music.

Their 2008 self-titled debut was an underground success with its fusion of punk, new wave, and electro. Since its release, all has been quiet in the AKCBD camp. Now finally two years later the band as re-emerged with the Farewell EP. Featuring two brand new songs, a cover of the Berlin hit “Metro,” and three remixes of songs off the debut, Farewell serves as what could be the band’s final curtain call.

Septron brings Wuterguss a Dark Wave Electro Industrial album PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras
Saturday, 05 June 2010 09:53

SeptronA combination of Dark Wave, EBM, Dark Electro and Industrial styles, sophisticated lyrics in German language, all done in a characteristic manner – this is SEPTRON, a one-man-band from Germany.
The listener is hypnotically driven through the ups and downs of emotions. SEPTRON is an artist who puts his inmost thoughts and pains into his music. His inspiration comes from his dissatisfaction with the society. SEPTRON shares his pain and his hate with the listener and makes him think about the words.

Songs like KOMA and BLENDER have a political message, SEPTRON describes his objection and disapointments in our system.

Other tracks, like UNTER DEINER OBHUT or BLUMENWELT bring a deep view into the soul of SEPTRON, letting us know how painful even love can be.

Come on and go along with SEPTRON on his rampage against the rules in a dying world.

The musician behind SEPTRON is Bastian Polak, living in central Palatinate, a south-west German region.

For more than 8 years SEPTRON has been developing his music in his home-recording studio, producing 4 self-released demo CDRs that have made him popular in the local scene. Also SEPTRON played several successful live-shows on club stages up to some smaller festivals.

In june 2010 his debut-album titled WUTERGUSS (an artificial variation of a German expression, the resulting meaning can be translated as a 'sharing of rage') is released by the Sonic-X label, which also did the final production on SEPTRON’s recordings in their TS-Musix Studio.

Desire Black - Last Call for Decadence PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras
Saturday, 29 May 2010 12:10

Freedom of expression is the backbone of all music. That being said, as I sit here listening to "Last Call for Decadence" on my CD player, I can't believe what is coming out of the speakers. This one man band plays music that is part punk, part rock and part some shit I can't quite figure out. Sometimes the music is a little too harsh and and indefinable. Sometimes, it kicks solid ass. It's like Marilyn Manson met Nine Inch Nails in some alternate universe.

Desire Black is Jimmy Matheos and he plays all the instruments and does a remarkable job. Final diagnosis: Too weird for most, but just weird enough for others.

For more information, check out http://www.desireblack.com.

Elapsing less than 28 total minutes, Matheos philosophy and approach to songwriting is obviously to jump into a track feet first, make the statement he wants to make, and then to get the hell out before the song has any chance of getting repetitive or boring (anyone like The Ramones?). Stylistically, Last Call For Decadence has a fairly unique personality … its roots are clearly hard core Punk based, a la The Sex Pistols, but the guitar sound, especially, has periodic Metal tendencies, at times in the vein of Motley Crue’s Too Fast For Love, at other times similar to The Scorpions’ Lovedrive and Animal Magnetism. The 4th track, “Puke Til You Vomit,” for instance, has a fresh-sounding guitar riff intro very similar to “Falling In Love” by The Scorpions.

Testube - Off Purpose PDF Print E-mail

Saturday, 29 May 2010 12:01

Glim Records is pleased to announce the return of Testube in 2010. With an anticipated release date of May 17th, Jeff Danos presents 'Off Purpose' - his first full length release since 'Corporation' in 2003. Continuing where the 2008 "Covert" EP left off, this new release further explores the eclectic fringes of electronic genre mutation that Testube is known for. By fusing glitchy chaotic percussion, dramatic textural displays, anti-pop melody and the occasional old school industrial groove, 'Off Purpose' promises to deliver a little bit of something for everyone, and a lot for the discerning few. Jonathan Chalker, of the dark electro-pop act LowHero.DLL, also contributes vocals and lyrics to what is arguably the catchiest track on the album - "Lost and Found".

'Off Purpose' will first be sold as a limited boutique CDr with special hand-printed arigato jacket and trigger ejector case. Download sales will follow shortly thereafter. In closing, here's a sneak peak at the unintentional, yet somehow refined sounds of Testube's 'Off Purpose':

Front Line Assembly - Shifting Through The Lens PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras
Thursday, 27 May 2010 14:25

Always expanding and reconstructing electronic and industrial music to its breaking point while keeping rhythm and melody intact, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY are preparing to unleash the latest chapter in their storied history with the release of IMPROVISED. ELECTRONIC. DEVICE. on June 25, 2010 on Dependent.

“I.E.D. is definitely furthering the direction of the band and sound, creatively and artistically,” explains founder and mastermind behind FLA, Bill Leeb. “We’re finding new ways to make sound.”

A hearty and robust album thick with a hybrid of electronics and guitars, I.E.D. takes their trademark sound and beefs it up with metallic guitars and stylized industrial beats. Kicking off with the adrenalineinfused title track, it’s apparent that this is a new and improved FLA. “This is the first time in FRONT LINE history that we did a track in a 5/4 signature,”explains Bill. “Chris (Peterson, keyboards) was pushing for more diversity, chal lenging the band to do something different. We wanted this track to be as challenging and complex as the world we live in as there are no easy answers.”

Attention System - Wait For My Signal PDF Print E-mail

Thursday, 27 May 2010 14:20

ATTENTION SYSTEM has been compared to The Faint, The Presets and Does It Offend You, Yeah? – and while the band certainly counts these among their influences ATTENTION SYSTEM´s music packs a heavier punch while remaining highly danceable.

With darkwave and punk at their core, Brian Fisher (vocals, keys), Joshua Broughton (guitar, vocals), Jonathan Davis (guitar), Chris Edmonds (bass) and Jason Curtis (drums) were ready for something new.
Dabbling in the world of electronics, they´ve managed to fuse ´80s synth pop with their darker undertones – and they´ve created what they only half-jokingly like to call "a rock band who´s mugged an electronica band and is digging through a stolen, dirty pair of pants for extra synth lines."

Bloody Dead And Sexy - An Eye On You PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras
Thursday, 27 May 2010 14:14

Well, we got an eye on them also !

Becoming older is a fact of life, which has some good aspects that are mostly appreciated beyond a certain age only. If everything went right, you had become wise and clarified. You know what you want. The inner peace and balance is not easily disturbed. And somehow you realize, that looking behind the curtain is an effort worth to be done.

But what has this to do with BLOODY DEAD AND SEXY? Quite simple; Five years ago, the German band has release a State Of The Art-Dark Rock-Album named "Narcotic Room”, which incorporated the death rock-elements of the early phase of the band. Combined with the finest songwriting and a very solid production, the very original sound of the band boosted the band into the next millennium.

And now? 2010 is today. The second decade of the 21st century has just begun and BLOODY DEAD AND SEXY are all but tired. "An Eye on You" is the greatest long player of the band of four. Only the finest ingredients are stirred in a smooth & relaxed way, and with extravagance that it could be perceived to be (excusez moi) overly coolness of the four gentlemen.

solemn novenaStop it! Enough is enough!
The never-ending wimps of "yesterday's sound", "dusty sound" and "music from the tomb" - all bullshit. In a time, when narrow-minded Krautrock is sold as Gothic, Techno-Rave claims to be "The Next Big Thing" and one still desperately searches for the connection between bagpipes and dark-wave - exactly in that time North Irish trio SOLEMN NOVENA release a debut album sounding like the essence of Goth.

Eden Synthetic Corps - Eight Thousand Square Feet PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras

ESC

ESC - Eden Synthetic Corps were formed in 2005. Their early songs started getting rave reviews all over the internet and they signed a record deal with Dark Dimensions / Scanner just a couple of months after their formation.

Their debut album Matte (released in 2006) was enthusiastically received all over the Alternative community and the word was all over that there was a finally an Electro-Industrial band from Portugal worth listening.

ESC always tried their best to sound unique among hundreds of clones and they achieved a new level of identity when they released Enhancer. Enhancer is a concept album that tells the story of a serial killer on a women killing spree. The artwork was widely considered as one of the best among all the bands in the same musical universe and the album followed the path of Matte by getting great reviews from the press and great feedback from listeners. Along with Enhancer came ESC's first international shows and another presence in the DAC (Deutsche Alternative Charts) top ten albums.

Their third album is on the way, featuring yet another concept, portrayed as comics, on the artwork of a luxurious digipack packaging. "Eight Thousand Square Feet" brings us ESC's most intense album to date, featuring guests such as Carsten Jacek from [:SITD:] and Jan L. from X-Fusion.

If you like intense beats, a spine-tingling atmosphere and dark harsh vocals, there's no going wrong if you give ESC a try.

Eldar with new album AMATERASU SHIROI PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras
Monday, 03 May 2010 19:42

Eldar - AMATERASU SHIROI All work that appears on this album has been re-recorded and re-mastered, from the demo recordings in 2007/2008, edited by SkullLine in two volumes called "Ama Terasu" and "Solve Et Coagula" currently sold out.
They have been re-recorded almost all the instruments and voices that make up the album, also have been changed and added various features and sounds/samples of songs, including inedit songs.
The result is an album completely new and different from the first recordings of those years. A must for fans of Triarii, Toroidh, A Challenge of Honour, Stahlwerk 9.
This album is based on the relation of philosophy and society. Humanity in their continuing struggle to manage their destination uses the philosophy to guide their society, unlike animals that only use force to impose its collective. Other times it is used for personal purposes and lead the masses.

A divine spirit behind the philosophy, but this is used for diabolical purposes. This work is dedicated to all those who have fought and still fighting for that philosophy is a social ideal and the only way for humanity to evolve. We pray to the deity Amaterasu to make this possible.

Interpol has released a brand new song for free, "Lights". The track is taken from sessions for their new (fourth) album and is available right here. According to the band, the song will be the first of several to be released in the next few months. The method to communicate about the band's newest album follows the same line as what Smashing Pumpkins and lesser gods have been doing, namely releasing tracks one by one instead of all in one go. Interpol have been working on the follow-up to 2007's "Our Love To Admire" in New York and London, and are believed to be finalising release plans for an album later this year.

Ego Likeness - Breedless PDF Print E-mail
Written by Anaxagoras
Saturday, 24 April 2010 10:50

BreedlessFounded in 1999 by the artist Steven Archer and the author Donna Lynch, the name originates from the novel "Dune" from Frank Herbert's series of the same name. "Breedless" is the fourth album from this American duo, as well as their first release on Dependent. EGO LIKENESS have ascended from their technoid, organic, trip-hop origins and evolved into a darker electronic dimension with each ensuing album. The earlier comparisons with bands like CURVE and COLLIDE can no longer be applied to "Breedless", as the duo's work has taken on a much broader and darker spectrum, switching between soft female chants and a much louder vocal style filled with tormented energy. Despite its variable speeds and volumes, the album is always emotionally charged, whilst the lyrics consider the darkness of our human psyche. In retrospect, it is obvious that EGO LIKENESS have consistently increased their standard of productivity.  An amazing fourth album!
