Interpol has released a brand new song for free, "Lights". The track is taken from sessions for their new (fourth) album and is available right here. According to the band, the song will be the first of several to be released in the next few months. The method to communicate about the band's newest album follows the same line as what Smashing Pumpkins and lesser gods have been doing, namely releasing tracks one by one instead of all in one go. Interpol have been working on the follow-up to 2007's "Our Love To Admire" in New York and London, and are believed to be finalising release plans for an album later this year.
The LP was recorded in Electric Lady Studios during spring of 2009. According to drummer Sam Fogarino the sound of the album would be back to the original sound of their 2002 debut "Turn On the Bright Lights". But singer Paul Banks later on said that it will not sound anything like their debut album and that there is some very "classical stuff going on" with it. For the 'petite histoire', Interpol drummer Sam Fogarino briefly worked at the Projekt label, though labelboss Sam Rosenthal has often commented, "I never really knew what he did." |
