  • Chrom – Synthetic Movement (CD – Out Of Line)

The new album of Chrom will appeal to all lovers of future-pop music. We all have to agree that the golden years of future-pop are far behind, but some bands do still belief in a kind of resurrection. “Synthetic Movement” doesn’t sound exactly like a resurrection rather than a progression in style. Chris and Tom are talented melody-makers, but their sound is a little tiny harder and ‘dance’-like than the usual future-pop standard....

  • Guilt Trip – Feed The Fire (CD – Complete Control Productions)

The young Swedish label CC Productions has a nose for cool electro bands that are often animated by an old-school spirit. Guilt Trip consists of Karl Lindberg & Magnus Nilsson who were previously –during the 90s involved in a project called Chirurgie Esthetique. Guilt Trip has already released several albums (mainly on CDR format), but this new opus could be the real breakthrough. The influences of Guilt Trip are very easy to recognize. Their songs bring us back to early...

  • Inure – The Offering (CD – Metropolis)

Inure isn’t exactly the band releasing albums on regular basis. It took more or less 6 years to strike back with a new album, which is the 3rd one to date. After a self-released debut-CD and a 2nd CD on Alfa-Matrix (2006) they now joined Metropolis Records, which remains the home of Imperative Reaction. Ted Phelps from Imperative Reaction has produced the album. I remember Inure for their intelligent dark-electro style reminding me of early Skinny Puppy....

  • K-Bereit – Positiv Sound / Negativ Beat (CD – EK Product)

The French duo Dominique Lallement - Frédéric Sebastien strikes back with their 2nd full length in 3 years. They moved from Sigsaly Transmissions to EK Product with an astonishing piece of music. The previous album “Distört Neural Unit” revealed a few good surprises, but this is nothing compared to the new work. K-Bereit was presented as the offspring between Kriegbereit and Cobalt 60. As a listener and criticism I would say that...

  • Macabro – We Live Lies (Digital CD – X-Line)

Macabro is a project hailing from Latvia, which I’ve just discovered. It’s a side project of the more familiar Hezzel. Macabro has already released a considerable list of albums, but “We Live Lies” was my first introduction. The least I can say is that I was deeply impressed by the musical knowledge and intelligence of this artist. Together with [In]Toxin I consider this project as real revelations on the Russian X-Line label. “We...

  • Na-Hag – Obscurant (Digital CD – X-Line)

The 3rd rd full length of this Ukrainian project is a new exploration of the tribal-industrial Music World. Operator Ruga Roo deals with progressive industrial formats and this new opus simply is the confirmation of his great talent. The opening tracks are simply mind-blowing. Danceable rhythms turning into trance and layers of industrial sounds plus some dark atmospheres are directly taking the listener by surprise. “You Worship Me” even has some IDM flavor on top....

  • Necrotek – Blacklight Magick (CD – Vendetta Music)

No doubt about it, the new album by Necrotek is definitely one of my favorite releases from 2012 so far. Inspired by some electro-pioneers Necrotek clearly reveals a dark-electro retro feeling, but it would be exaggerated to call it old-school. “Blacklight Magick” will for sure remains to bands like The Klinik, Skinny Puppy and Portion Control, but there’s also a more contemporary and personal style, which might be defined as IDM. The merge of cold...

  • Spektralized – My Needs (EP – EK Product)

Spektralized is back! This project set up by Richard Bjørklund (also known from Monofader) has released all their material on Accession Records. A digital release seems to be released in 2010, but “My Needs” seems like their come-back after a CD-hiatus of 6 years. The band gained some notoriety because of Sebastian R. Komor producing their debut-CD “Elements Of Truth”. Spektralized hasn’t really changed their style and...

  • Unit 187 – Transfusion (CD – Vendetta Music)

“Transfusion” is not exactly a new CD, but an album full of remixes referring to the last studio album “Out For Blood”. No better way to open the album with a remix made by Hiwatt Marschall and cEvin Key. Their remix of “Rolling Vengeance” is not exactly my favorite one although there was no better start. The “Rom Diprisco Remix” of “Threatened coming next is definitely more convincing. It...

  • Wumpscut – Women And Satan First (CD – Beton Kopff Media)

Rudy Ratzinger has just dropped his newest album entitled “Women And Satan First”. On each album again I’m wondering if this master of dark-electro can still surprise me. I’ll reserve my answer, but I can reveal that years seem to have no real impact on this musician. I think there was no better song than “Hallelujah” to start. It’s a well-crafted track featuring German samplings warning the listener...
